green power and insulation

in a new push to convert power over to reusable energy, tva has started this green power thing. It's cool, so check it out (or similar programs in your area).

in other power related news--jewel and i officially removed our window-unit air conditioner and sealed up the window in the living room. i got some cellophane-ish stuff that you tape around the window and then blow-dry it (being careful not to melt the plastic) in order to create a nice seal. it worked well for, eh, a day and then the bottom seal came off (which answered our question about what the directions meant by "underneath" the window--it definitely means on the actual wall, not the molding. thanks.) i also purchased insulation pads for the outlets and light switches and some stuff for around the front door. i've yet to do my room which, when i stand in it/lie in bed, i can feel a cool drafty breeze from the window. good times!

other news--it's a good friend's b-day today, so if you are reading this, STEPHEN, happy day. hope it is as steve-o-licious as you want it to be. in german (i think... that's i think this is how you would say it, not "i think this is german"): deine geburtstag ist heute (your b-day is today). unfortunately, i don't know how to say happy b-day, so the english will have to suffice, or how about spanish? !feliz cumplean~os a ti!

this weekend i will be in blowing rock, nc helping out with a church conference (for a few hours) but spending most of the time outside!! think good weather thoughts. if i had a digi-camera, i'd take some pics so you could see, but if you're really good i might try to sketch something in paint for you ;)
